Valley River Humane Society is a non-profit volunteer organization located in Western North Carolina. Their work spans from Cherokee County to Graham County. Valley River's primary goal is to reduce the number of homeless animals in their community. By promoting adoptions through their spay and neuter program, they are successful in placing adopted dogs into safe and loving homes.
We have a huge appreciation for the outdoors, but we also have a huge heart for rescue dogs and the homeless dogs of Graham County, North Carolina. The natural beauty and majestic landscapes of Western NC's rural towns brought us to this region and ultimately connected us with Graham County Animal Advocates. After their disbandment in 2018, with their help, we transitioned our Giving Back campaign into Valley River Humane Society ("VRHS"). VRHS has continued the legacy which began in 2013 by Robin Mason and Alice Lumbard, who saw a need for rescuing the strays of Graham County.
